Malatang · street food from northern China

You pick it. We weigh it.

Take an empty bowl, fill it with whatever you like off the cold bar, watch it go on the scale, and it comes back boiling in the broth you chose. No menu. No dish of the day. No negotiating.

The one rule worth knowing

500grams

Below 500 g the broth is charged at 2 €

Their own sign, by the door

Over 500 grams the broth is included. Under it, the broth costs 2 €. That is the whole thing you need to understand before you walk in.

Four steps

How it works

The first time is mildly alarming. The second time you walk straight to the bar.

  1. Coge un bol

    Coge un bol

En la entrada, junto a la barra fría. El bol es grande a propósito.

  2. Llénalo

  3. A la báscula

Se pesa delante de ti. Pagas los gramos que has puesto, ni uno más.

  4. Elige el caldo

Ocho caldos, del hueso suave al Chongqing. Lo cuecen y te lo llevan a la mesa.

Now the broth

This is a simulator. The per-portion grams are our own estimate and the price per 100 g is still to be confirmed with the shop: the scale on the counter is the only one that counts.

What people say

Google reviews 4,2

  • “The broths are very good and the choice of ingredients is very varied too. You can make your own sauces, free. Price is roughly 2,5 € per 100 grams and the portions are very big. Mine came to about 11-12 € a bowl.”

  • “The medium-spicy beef broth tastes superb. With 500 g of ingredients you end up completely full. The bowl is enormous. The range of ingredients is very good, and so is being able to make your own sauce to go with them.”

  • “You choose your own ingredients and however much you want of them — carbs, meat and vegetable proteins, fresh vegetables and much more. The broths are incredible and the dry-noodle option is very good too.”
